Purebred Simmental

Homozygous Polled

4747P is a maternal half-sister to MSR Kansas Tank 235M, owned by Spring Creek Simmentals-Brian McCarthy, Moosomin, SK, Canada.  "Tank" was purchased by Spring Creek in our 2003 sale, and his sons and grandsons have "put Spring Creek on the map" in Brian's words.  The high-seller in their February 28, 2007 sale was a Tank grandson that sold for $9000.  Thirty-nine of the fifty-four Simmental bulls in their offering were either sons or grandsons of Tank.  Six full brothers to 4747P were the high-selling sire group in our February 11, 2006 production sale, averaging $3417/head, and all but one going to repeat customers.

Watch for great things from the 4747P female at the Moser Ranch.  In her first flush, we froze 10 embryos sired by Westfall Voyager 721P, owned by Owen Brothers Cattle Company.

4760P's first flush on February 28, 2007 yielded 3 embryos from a mating with Pollfleck.  Yes, you read that correctly, the old tried-and-true, totally proven Pollfleck.  A full brother to 4760P is a herdsire for us-"MSR Blaze 4761P".  The Blaze sons sold very well in our 2007 production sale and his first daughters which are bred for September 2008 calves look like they will be pretty efficient, moderate females.

This young female gave us 12 embryos on her first flush! She calved in May 2006, and is nursing a stout little bull calf sired by Black Star Direction 404-a Future Direction son out of a Scotch Cap 1483 daughter. She was bred to Revelation-the Sitz Alliance 6595 x Preferred Stock bull at Select Sires-and collected on September 18, 2006. Her udder is perfect, her disposition is sweet, and her numbers and phenotype will add only positive things to our program. You can tell by the picture she is a working female! Kayla showed her in 4-H, and she wanted to name her "Ears", since 4585P does exhibit the true Simmental characteristic of a bit larger ears!

3403N is a maternal half-sister to our 4585P "Ears" donor. Kept open since calving last fall, 3404N has been collected to Future Prototype, Preferred Beef and Frontier N13, the B/R New Frontier 095 x Preferred Stock half-blood bull from Accelerated Genetics. 3403N weaned off a fancy Future Prototype daughter in early April. The cow side of this pedigree-0002K-goes back to our first black Simmental female, the 1982 model 225P female sired by Black Magic. 0002K was purchased by Owen Brothers Simmental, MO, at our 2005 Spring Simmental Dispersion. She is currently in their donor lineup.

Kayla with "Exy"

Next to our Angus base cow "221" (found in our
Female Scrapbook), 098 has had the most genetic influence on our Angus cowherd. She has been collected 3 times to GAR Example (36 embryos-19 calves); twice to Rockn'D Ambush (10 embryos-10 calves); twice to 6I6 (9 embryos-7 calves); once to the Simmental bull Lucky Strike (11 embryos-5 calves); and once to the Simmental bull Rains Boldstock (12 embryos-9 calves). Her massive design, quiet disposition and sound structure are passed on to all her progeny. She has definitely left her mark on our Angus herd. Kayla showed a fall born daughter, "Exy", to Championship honors at our 2003 county fair, and won showmanship with her twice. 098's progeny are eye-catchers!

This very productive female came to us from the great state of Iowa. 28 embryos sired by either King Rob or Canyon have been implanted for an average pregnancy rate of 71%. She is shown here with her 2003 natural calf by MSR Red Answer, which had an Adj. WW of 726, to rank 7/53 ranch raised bull calves. His EPD spread from birth to weaning is -0.4 to 55... pretty good numbers for a half blood!! 2268's King Rob sons averaged $2,500 in our 2003 sale. At nearly 14 years of age, this female is very sound in regard to udder quality and skeletal structure, and continues to keep her flesh. She is a quiet cow, not seeming to mind all those times through the chute for embryo transfer shots and work. Kept open during 2003, she was flushed to Cherokee Canyon, MSR Red Answer and Hook's Red Quorum. Overall her embryo production rate is 8.5 high quality embryos/collection.

An own daughter of our 515E donor (found in our Female Scrapbook). This pedigree is as sound as they come in the business. Her first daughter by MSR Red Answer (shown here with 1057L) had an Adj. WW of 630. 1057L was flushed in the spring of 2003 to Leachman Body Builder. 19 embryos were transferred fresh and we are expecting 15 calves in one of our cooperator herds in the spring of 2004.

7023G's dam is the time-tested 152C donor (found in our Female Scrapbook). 7023G has been flushed twice - to Fortune 500 in 2000 and Black Joker in 2002 - and she has produced 8 high quality embryos per flush. Her pregnancy rate is a very impressive 81%. Four full brothers out of the Black Joker flush have adjusted weaning weights as follows:

  • Lot 3317N - 755# (Tested Homozygous Black)

  • Lot 3318N - 700# (Tested Homozygous Black)

  • Lot 3320N - 754# (Tested Red Carrier)

  • Lot 3321N - 783# (Tested Red Carrier)

All bulls are polled, born mid-February and have the distinctive white blaze face. They are massive, heavy muscled individuals that catch everyone's eye when we go through the bull pens. Check our Production Sale page to see what they're currently gaining... they are impressive!

Fink’s Pride “221” 04 Bando

Born: 3-19-92
Bando 155 x Emulation N Bar 5522 x Rito 9J9

We purchased “221” (we affectionately called her “Sassy”) as a bred heifer in November 1993, at Fink Beef Genetics’ record setting female sale in Manhattan, KS. After studying the Angus breed for nearly a year, in our eyes, she was the best combination of phenotype, genetics and performance. We paid $7,500 for her.

“Sassy” was flushed extensively for the next four years, and her daughters and granddaughters now make up the foundation of our Angus cowherd. When we had realized the genetic progress we wanted from her in our program, we re-sold “221” along with her first natural calf (a 4-year-old 5204 daughter who was also a donor), in 1998 at the Kansas Angus Futurity. They brought $8,000. We think they held their value quite nicely, and they gave us a tremendous Angus seedstock foundation.

“152C” was purchased as an open heifer at Bob Dickinson’s sale in the fall of 1993. If you are familiar with our operation at all, you will have heard of this female. Her moderate size, tremendous capacity, proven performance, and quiet disposition have all been positive attributes. Her flush record is like no other. She has been collected 16 times for a total of 223 embryos, and her pregnancy rates are almost equally impressive. Her 2003 bull calf sired by RIV Choctaw has an 800 lb. Adj. 205 Wt. and ranked 1/53 ranch-raised purebred with a 121 WW ratio.

"515" has been flushed 7 times and has produced 159 embryos, averaging 22.7 high quality embryos/collection. Sires used on "515E" include Red Light, Arapahoe, Full Figures, Lucky Break and Day Black and Gold. A red non-dilute son of 515E X Full Figures sold for $4100 to a western Kansas breeder in our 2002 sale. See his picture with our Bull Sale results.

Bulls in our 2004 Bull Sale out of 515E are sired by Lucky Break and Day Black and Gold. Massive and easy-fleshing best describes 515E.
