Females for the
Scrapbook...
 |
|
In late August, we gathered fall
calving cows from summer grass and headed them to calving pastures. As of
September 30th, fall calving is nearly complete at the Moser Ranch.
As the fall season progresses and the leaves begin to turn and fall
to the ground, it's time to start thinking about bull sale plans!
Please join us on Saturday, February 11, 2006, for our
14th Annual Bull and Commercial Female Sale.
Yearling bulls were started on the gain test on Thursday, September
29th. |

Kayla showed a full sister
to the 3454N bull at the Kansas Junior Livestock Show, Wichita, KS, in
September. "MSR 3455N of 098 Strike" (a.k.a. "Creeda") placed second in a
class of five open fall heifers. |

| “152C” was
purchased as an open heifer at Bob Dickinson’s sale in the fall of
1993. If you are familiar with our operation at all, you will have
heard of this female. Her moderate size, tremendous capacity, proven
performance, and quiet disposition have all been positive
attributes. Her flush record is like no other. She has been
collected 16 times for a total of 223 embryos, and her pregnancy
rates are almost equally impressive. Her 2003 bull calf sired by RIV
Choctaw has an 800 lb. Adj. 205 Wt. and ranked 1/53 ranch-raised
purebred with a 121 WW ratio. |

| "515" has
been flushed 7 times and has produced 159 embryos, averaging 22.7
high quality embryos/collection. Sires used on "515E" include Red
Light, Arapahoe, Full Figures, Lucky Break and Day Black and Gold. A
red non-dilute son of 515E X Full Figures sold for $4100 to a
western Kansas breeder in our 2002 sale. See his picture with our
Bull Sale results.
Bulls in our 2004 Bull
Sale out of 515E are sired by Lucky Break and Day Black and Gold.
Massive and easy-fleshing best describes 515E. |
Who says you can't have a rainbow in
Kansas in December?! This photo was taken at chore time on December 17, 2003,
after a quick rain/ice pellet storm passed through our part of the world. It
didn't seem to bother the Moser Ranch cattle, as they didn't miss a beat to come
to the feed bunks! Anything can happen in the "Land of OZ"! |
