Heifers are sorted
according to when
they exhibit estrus, and are bred at the
end of their heat.

This is
the last group of heifers to show heat. There were 99 out of 105
heifers A.I.'d this spring at the Moser Ranch. They all get 21 days
with cleanup bulls, and that's it. You either breed right up here,
or you don't get to stay...

Last
weekend was heifer A.I.,
and that meant HOURS on horseback!

100+
heifers were synchronized with the MGA + One Shot Lutalyse method.
This program has been used by Moser's for over 15 years. In 2003,
107 out of 110 replacement heifers exhibited standing heat and were
A.I.'d within a ten-day window.
This is
the second year we have used the Estrus Alert patches. Their bright
colors show up well on both the reds and the blacks.

The office
in the barn where the A.I. and E.T. preparation is done. Lisa does
all the A.I., with the rest of the family sorting and providing
chute help. We couldn't do big jobs like this without each other!
